My First Published Short Story

These past few weeks, I have started submitting some of my writing to various online magazines. Finding the right fit can be more challenging than I thought, and the research/submission process takes more time than I had expected. It is very enlightening, though! I have collected a handful of rejection letters so far, and the first one is now sitting framed next to me on my wall! 🙂

Yesterday I have received my first acceptance letter for a flash fiction to be published mid-June and I look forward to sharing it with you. Today I have received another e-mail informing me that Crushed has become my first published short story. Yay! The piece is a bit on the grim side and a pretty fitting piece to describe my feelings about winter.

I have been working on multiple drafts these past couple of days, making use of my current bout of inspiration rather than forcing myself to edit and revise earlier drafts. It might be a good idea to let a draft simmer in the back of my mind, and when I return to it, I have something new and fresh to add to it.

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet (I mean, it’s fairly hidden at the top of the site), I now have a newsletter you can sign up for! Hopefully, with spring approaching and the temperatures rising, my mood and general outlook will improve as well. 🙂
